1. Cable Needed
To connect your digital piano or keyboard to your computer and use it with the Playground Sessions app for Mac or Windows, you’ll need a compatible cable.
Choose a cable that matches both your computer port and keyboard port as explained below.
Computer Ports
Your computer will have one of the following:

USB-C port (newer models)
-
USB-A port (older models)
You’ll need a cable that matches your computer port. (See image below.)
Keyboard/Digital Piano Ports
Your keyboard will have one of these three connection types:

USB-B port – most common
-
MIDI In & Out ports - less common
-
Micro USB port – not very common but it exists
Check the back (or underside) of your keyboard to see which port it has.
Cable Options
Option 1: USB-B Port (Most Common)
If your keyboard has a USB-B port (square-shaped), purchase one of these cables — depending on your computer port:

Option 2: MIDI In & Out Ports (older keyboards)
If your keyboard has MIDI In & Out ports, purchase:

If your computer only has USB-C ports, you’ll also need an adaptor to connect to the A side.

Option 3: Micro USB Port (less Common)
If your keyboard has a Micro USB port, purchase one of these cables — depending on your computer port:

2. How to Connect
A. USB-B Cable

Plug the Keyboard USB-B end (square-shaped) into your keyboard’s USB to Host port.

Plug the Computer USB-A or USB-C end into your computer.

Turn on your keyboard.
💡 If your keyboard has two USB ports labeled “USB to Host” and “USB to Device,” make sure to use USB to Host.
B. MIDI Cable

Plug the Keyboard MIDI IN connector into the MIDI OUT port on your keyboard, and the Keyboard MIDI OUT connector into the MIDI IN port.
(If it doesn’t connect properly, try swapping the two.) -
Plug the Computer USB-A or USB-C end into your computer. (Use the USB-C adapter if needed.)

Turn on your keyboard.
C. Micro USB Cable

Plug the Keyboard Micro USB end into your keyboard.

Plug the Computer USB-A or USB-C end into your computer.

Turn on your keyboard
3. Set Up in Playground Sessions

Open the Playground Sessions app.

Go to Settings → Keyboard & Volumes → Start Keyboard Setup.

Select your keyboard when prompted, then play your lowest and highest notes.

Once connected, you’re ready to play! ✅
