Playground Sessions offers two ways to receive feedback and scoring as you play:
- Mic Feedback using your device’s built-in microphone (no cables needed)
-
Cable Connection using a USB or MIDI cable (for digital pianos and keyboards)
Start with Mic Feedback if:
- You're using an acoustic piano
- You have a digital keyboard with speakers but don’t yet have a cable
- You want to start playing immediately without setup
Mic Feedback uses your device’s microphone (on iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, or Windows) to “listen” as you play and gives you feedback and scoring. It works great for getting started.
Tip: Use wired headphones and play in a quiet room for the best mic-based scoring experience.
Use a Cable Connection if:
- You have a digital piano or keyboard that supports USB or MIDI (most digital & keyboards do)
- You want the most accurate, instant, real-time feedback
- You’ve received your compatible cable and are ready to upgrade your experience
With a cable connection, Playground receives your note data directly from your keyboard. That means:
✔️ 100% accuracy in pitch and timing
✔️ Real-time feedback as you play (not just at the end of a song or section)
✔️ No risk of scoring backing tracks or demo sounds
✔️ No background noise interference
If you have a cable-compatible digital piano or keyboard, we highly recommend transitioning to a cable setup once your device-compatible cable arrives.
Don’t Have a Cable Yet?
No problem — you can still learn and receive feedback using your device’s mic while you wait. Then, switch to a cable connection for an even better experience once you're ready. Here’s device-specific cable details:
