Can I use Playground Sessions with an acoustic piano?

Yes, you can use Playground Sessions with an acoustic piano, and get all of the benefits of accuracy scoring and progress tracking!

Playground Sessions offers two ways to receive feedback and scoring as you play:

1. Mic Feedback (No cables needed)

• Works with any acoustic piano or digital keyboard with speakers.

• Uses your device’s built-in microphone (iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, or Windows) to “listen” as you play.

• Great for getting started right away — just open the app and play.

Best for you if:

• You’re using an acoustic piano

• You have a digital keyboard but don’t yet have a cable

• You want to start learning immediately with no setup or cables required

Tip: For the most accurate scoring, use wired headphones, place your device near your piano/keyboard, and play in a quiet room. The backing tracks sometimes will score you as playing a note on the piano. If you play with headphones this isn't a problem. However, for most this isn't a big issue, and just turning down the backing tracks some should help.

2. Cable Connection (Most accurate feedback scoring, and receive real-time/instant feedback)

• Works with any digital pianos or keyboards that support USB or MIDI (most do).

• Sends your note data directly from your instrument to Playground Sessions.

• You want 100% accuracy in pitch and timing

• You want instant, real-time feedback as you play (not just at the end of a song or section)

• You have a cable-compatible digital piano/keyboard

• You want to avoid interference from background noise or backing tracks
