You can use Playground Sessions with any acoustic piano or any digital keyboard/piano.
Connection Options
-
Acoustic Piano: Use Mic Feedback — your device’s microphone “listens” as you play.
-
Digital Keyboard/Piano: Connect with either:
-
A USB port (most common)
-
Two MIDI ports labeled MIDI IN and MIDI OUT (older keyboards may still have this)
These connections send MIDI data directly to Playground Sessions for 100% accurate tracking and feedback.
-
- Note, you can play with Mic Feedback with your digital piano or keyboard, but for the most accurate scoring and for real-time feedback, connecting with a cable is strongly recommended for the best experience.
Keyboard Sizes
Most keyboards come in four standard sizes: 49, 61, 72, or 88 keys.
-
49 keys → Enough for all Rookie and Intermediate lessons, plus most Advanced songs.
-
61 keys → Recommended if you want to access the full library of Advanced lessons.
-
72 or 88 keys → Best for players who want the full piano range; 88 keys will feel most like an acoustic piano.
👉 Bottom line: 49 keys is enough to get started, but 61 keys or more is recommended if you plan to continue into advanced material.
